Patrick Rottinghaus

Dr. Patrick Rottinghaus is the Program Training Director for the Counseling Psychology graduate program. His research examines factors affecting career and educational decisions, including vocational interests, personality, abilities, self-efficacy, and values. In addition, his scholarship investigates career adaptability measurement and integrative perspectives on career development.
Dr. Rottinghaus is the author of several career assessments, including the Career Futures Inventory, Kuder Skills Assessment-College and Adult Form, Expanded Skills Confidence Inventory, and Crafting Your Future Career. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 17), Fellow of the National Career Development Association, and has received several honors for his scholarship, including the John Holland Award for Outstanding Achievement in Career or Personality Research from the Society of Counseling Psychology and the Early Career Professional Award from the Society for Vocational Psychology.
He is an associate editor for the British Journal of Guidance and Counselling; currently serves on editorial boards for the Journal of Vocational Behavior and Journal of Career Assessment; and has served on the editorial boards for the Journal of Counseling Psychology, Career Development Quarterly, and Journal of Career Development. He is Past-Chair of the Society for Vocational Psychology and has served as a career assessment consultant for CPP, Inc., Kuder, Inc., and the ASVAB Career Exploration Program for the United States Department of Defense.
Dr. Rottinghaus will be accepting new doctoral students in the Counseling Psychology program for the 2024-2025 school year.
