The College of Education & Human Development Annual Awards recognize the achievements of young professionals, alumni and others who have made outstanding contributions to the college’s professional concerns, goals and objectives, or outstanding contributions to another profession after receiving a degree from Mizzou.

Nominations

Award nominations may be submitted online or via mail using the nomination form starting July 1st. Nominations are due October 15. If you have questions about the nomination process, please contact cehd.dean@missouri.edu or call 573-882-8524.

Since 1957, the college has recognized over 300 men and women for their contributions to education. See past award recipients.


Alumni Award Categories

Outstanding Alumni – Early Career: Candidates for this award must:

  • Have completed a minimum of three (3) years and a maximum of ten (10) years of professional service since the most recent MU degree was earned.
  • Be a graduate of one of the departments in the MU College of Education & Human Development or a department that was in the College at the time the degree was conferred.
  • Work demonstrates significant commitment that reflects the goals and values of the College
  • Demonstrates achievement in the field through leadership, service, mentorship and collaboration
  • Contributions have made a meaningful impact to their work environment and/or community.
  • Demonstrate potential and promise for continued growth and success in their field.
  • Current MU faculty, staff, students and retirees are not eligible.

Outstanding Alumni – Professional Achievement: Candidates for this award must:

  • Have completed a minimum of eleven (11) years and a maximum of twenty-five (25) years of professional service since the most recent MU degree was earned.
  • Be a graduate of one of the departments in the MU College of Education & Human Development or a department that was in the College at the time the degree was conferred.
  • Work demonstrates significant commitment that reflects the goals and values of the College
  • Demonstrates achievement in the field through leadership, service, mentorship and collaboration
  • Contributions have made a meaningful impact to their work environment and/or community.
  • Have demonstrated tangible accomplishments with positive impact and results.
  • Demonstrate potential and promise for continued growth and success in their field.
  • Current MU faculty, staff, students and retirees are not eligible.

Outstanding Alumni – Lifetime Achievement: Candidates for this award must:

  • Have completed more than twenty-five (25) years professional service in their field.
  • Be a graduate of one of the departments in the MU College of Education & Human Development or a department that was in the College at the time the degree was conferred.
  • Work demonstrates significant commitment that reflects the goals and values of the College
  • Demonstrates achievement in the field through leadership, service, mentorship and collaboration
  • Contributions have made a meaningful impact to their work environment and/or community.
    • Have distinction in their field and have demonstrated outstanding success in their work throughout their career.
    • Must be a recognized leader and have made a significant impact in their field.
    • Current MU faculty, staff and students are not eligible. MU retirees are eligible.

Honorary Alumnus:  This award is to honor an individual who is not a graduate of any department in the MU College of Education & Human Development but whose loyalty, involvement and identification with the College model those of an outstanding graduate. Recipients should are individuals who/whom:

  • Work demonstrates significant commitment that reflects the goals and values of the College
  • Work Demonstrates achievement in the field through leadership, service, mentorship and collaboration with contributions that have made a meaningful impact to their work environment and/or community
  • Must have shown exemplary support for advancing the quality of their field of study at the state and national or international level
  • Nomination must be submitted by an alumnus of the MU College of Education & Human Development or a member of the College faculty or staff.
  • Current MU faculty, staff and students are not eligible. MU retirees are eligible.
