Dr. Jamie Day is an Assistant Professor of Special Education in the College of Education and Human Development. Broadly, her research revolves around strategies to attract, prepare, and retain effective personnel for all multilingual students with disabilities. This includes researching special education teacher preparation and evidence-based literacy interventions for multilingual students participating in the special education process. Dr. Day is a former postdoctoral researcher at the University of Virginia where she examined technology-based literacy interventions for students with disabilities.

Additionally, Dr. Day holds a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification in English as New Language. She was a K-12 English Learner lead teacher in Virginia and has taught multilingual students with and without disabilities for over 10 years. During her time as a lead teacher, she led monthly multilingual family literacy nights and is very passionate about equitable family collaboration in school communities. Dr. Day has published in several peer-reviewed journals, presented her research at national conferences, and has received methodological awards from the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and American Educational Research Association (AERA).
