Brandi Schumacher, PhD is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Early Childhood in the College of Education & Human Development at the University of Missouri, and currently serves as an advisor to graduate students pursuing a master’s degree in early childhood education. She received her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Southern Illinois University and her MEd in Special Education from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Schumacher has worked in the field of education for over 20 years. She has taught various grade levels (Pre-K-8) in Arizona, worked as a regional consultant for Missouri Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and as a special education advocate and educational consultant. She has recently held faculty appointments in Arizona and California.

Dr. Schumacher is interested in preparing future teachers to authentically create learning opportunities and environments that are supportive and welcoming for all children. Her academic interests include improving teaching and learning in higher education, offering active and engaged learning opportunities, and promoting work-life balance for teachers. Dr. Schumacher teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in early childhood.
