Dache-Gerbino Awarded Isabelle Lyda Professorship
Posted in: Department of Educational Leadership and Policy AnalysisDache-Gerbino will use the financial award associated with the professorship to further her expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Dache-Gerbino studies how marginalized populations move through the K-20 educational pipeline. With a focus on racialization, political economy and geography, the GIS training will focus on how urbanization and blight impact a student’s predisposition to higher learning and local college accessibility.
“My research highlights how low-income students, families, neighborhoods and communities of color are social and educational assets to society, both nationally and internationally,” said Dache-Gerbino.
