Scholarships

Each year, the College awards over 75 scholarships to graduate students. Students submit scholarship applications each spring, and awards are distributed during the following fall or spring semesters.

Deadline

The application window opens on January 1 and closes on April 1.

• New Students: Note that this deadline may come before your application for graduate school has been fully considered.
• Continuing Students: A new application form must be submitted each year to renew your current scholarship or to be considered for new awards.
• International Students: You must prove lawful presence in the United States in accordance with Missouri House Bill 390.

Eligibility

The various scholarships are awarded based on a number of criteria, including:

• academic achievement
• financial need
• choice of program
• public service

Please Note

If a College of Education & Human Development scholarship recipient changes enrollment to another university or another college within MU, the scholarship will be rescinded. All scholarships, grants, and financial resources you receive are subject to being reduced if the combined total reaches your maximum Cost of Attendance. Federal Student Aid

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for need-based scholarships. Financial need is determined by the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form (available December – MU’s FAFSA code is 002516).

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant (TEACH Grant)

The Federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant is awarded through the Office of Student Financial Aid to students who are completing, or intend to complete, coursework to begin a career in teaching and who agree to serve for a minimum of four years as a full-time, highly-qualified, high-need field teacher in a low-income school.

Students awarded the TEACH Grant are required to complete four years of qualified teaching service within eight years of completing their course of study for which the TEACH Grant was received. Failure to meet this or any other requirement of the TEACH Grant will result in the grant converting into a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, with interest accrued and capitalized from the date of original grant disbursement.
