The College of Education will become the University of Missouri College of Education & Human Development  on July 1.

While the College name change coincides with the addition of a new department, Human Development and Family Science (HDFS), the new name is meant to capture the depth and breadth of academics, programs, and research occurring in the college.

 “While we have a long history with education and curriculum, we are a very broad college that includes expertise in psychology, policy, technology, leadership, and so much more,” said Interim Dean Erica Lembke.

“What I like most about the new name and the new department is that it expands our expertise about the youngest children, draws in the family dynamic and relationships, and even brings in older adults,” said Lembke. “These are all related, and learning is a lifelong endeavor. I’m very excited about the possibilities of collaboration and scholarship, and the real benefit will be for our students.”
