Jefferson City, Missouri, native Ava Fleury recently recorded a perfect score of 36 on the American College Test (ACT). The ACT contains four multiple-choice tests—English, mathematics, reading, and science—and an optional writing test. These tests are designed to measure skills that are most important for success in college and are typically taken by high school juniors and seniors. Fleury is only 14 and should be entering her freshman year in high school but is now set to graduate from high school next May from Mizzou Academy. Fleury currently holds a 4.0 GPA. She will be taking a full load of collegiate classes through a dual enrollment program this fall.

Prior to taking classes via Mizzou Academy for high school, Fleury was homeschooled by her mother, Ann Fleury, while also participating in gifted and specialized classes at Blair Oaks Public School.

She became a member of the National Honor Society at age 13 and was also one of the first students from Blair Oaks Middle School to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award from the school for her efforts on the ACT. Fleury also was presented the 2022 President’s Education Award at a ceremony earlier this spring.

Outside of her academic efforts, Fleury has figure skated for more than nine years at Washington Park Ice Arena. She is a United States Figure Skating Gold Medalist and a 50-time event champion in Ice Sports Industry (ISI) competitions. She and her brother, Will, also compete in pairs competitions and were showcased at the ISI Worlds event in St. Louis in 2019. Fleury coaches lessons at Washington Park Ice Arena and volunteers for the Missouri Figure Skating Club Adaptive Skating Program. Fleury has also played the piano for seven years and has received Superior marks for her solos during the National Federation of Music Club competitions every year.

Following high school, Fleury hopes to attend the University of Missouri in the fall of 2023 and begin working toward a career in Medicine.
